Abstract

The remake is a trend that is on the rise in both international and national cinema. In the particular case of Mexico, in recent years there has been a tendency to adapt films from other nationalities to the Mexican context, situation identified and called as the the cross-cultural remake.

The present article aims to make an approach to the phenomenon of the cross-cultural remake in contemporary Mexican cinematography by analyzing its dynamics, tendencies and peculiarities. For this, the particular case of the film No Manches Frida(Nacho G. Velilla, 2016) is studied, a remake of the German film Fack ju Göhte (Bora Dagtekin, 2013), a national production that can be considered as one of the main exponents of this trend in the current Mexican cinema.

Specifically, the process of adaptation of the German film to the Mexican version is studied, taking into consideration the management given to the semantic and syntactic elements, as well as the balance of these in the hypertext, all this starting from the adaptation theories and the approximations to the study of cinematographic remakes.
