Abstract

This work focuses on the study of the memes dedicated to former president Enrique Peña Nieto, created and circulated by users of digital spaces (portals and social networks) during the period 2012-2017, with particular interest in the processes of representation-interpretation of the president's performance with respect to the main "themes" positioned in the "spheres of debate" by the media and government agendas. Thus, based on this approach and in accordance with the statements of authors such as Demers, Lavigne and McCombs, research gravitates around the concept of public communication and the discursive elements used in the production of such devices.
