This paper aims to explore the interaction practices on social media networks and the self-perception of students from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, unit Cuajimalpa in order to recognize the configuration of their individual and collective digital identities. Following a mixed-methods methodology, the responses of 110 participants were analyzed. The results reveal that the majority of the students construct a partial identity on their digital networks compared to what they consider to be their real identity. They perceive themselves as a collectivity because they manage technology and are part of a digital culture. Furthermore, they state that social media causes them distress, such as insecurity and anxiety, due to upward social comparison, thereby highlighting the liquidity and vulnerability of youth interactions within the university environment.
