Introduction: In Mexico, few institutions have managed to analyze media coverage, especially considering the rapid changes brought about by media convergence and new communication platforms. Objective: To analyze the trajectory of the ROM-CONEICC (2012-2027) through the systematic monitoring of media and the development of a public agenda on communication in Mexico. Methodology: A mixed-methods longitudinal design was used, based on documentary research and the biographical-narrative method of information retrieved about the ROM-CONEICC. Results: The ROM-CONEICC has generated a broad methodological framework for media observation, resulting from national and international collaboration. Its impact has been seen in the development of human capital and as a breeding ground for other media observatories. Conclusion: The ROM-CONEICC is a benchmark for media observation in Latin America, demonstrating how academia can contribute to improving the professional practice of communication.
